First of all: Welcome. I'm Audrey, the creator behind this blog. My husband serves in the army, and we have an 80 pound German Shepherd pup (That's her in the picture). My goal for this blog is to write about my journey on the carnivore diet, as well as my real life experience as a military spouse and everyday life.
I want to make it clear: I am not a medical professional, and I am just sharing my experiences. Do your own research before making any changes to your diet, and talk to your doctor about any questions or symptoms you're experiencing.
When I first came across this diet, I had all the usual questions: What about vitamins and minerals? What about cholesterol? Isn't this way of eating super expensive? Setting out the answers to those and other common questions is outside of the scope of this blog post, but suffice to say that I got the answers I needed to give this diet a chance.
My husband was intrigued and wanted to join me in trying. We were good for, maybe a week? Before falling off the wagon like we'd done with so many other diets before. This went on a couple of times, until I had to fly to Europe to deal with a family emergency. In the three weeks I was there, I didn't really think about what I ate. When I came back, I had gained a whopping 11 pounds!
This was just a few weeks ago. My husband and I sat down, and promised each other to do better. Hence this blog. I'm hoping that by writing about this diet in a public way, I'll be less tempted to eat things that I shouldn't. They may taste good in the moment, but they make me feel awful as soon as 20-30 minutes after, and it can take days to get back to normal.
I'm hoping to write regular blog posts to report on all the usual health and fitness stuff: workouts, steps, foods eaten, motivational posts, potentially diving deeper into research topics and how I interpret research, as well as general life updates.
In the next blog post, I'm going to set out some of the health goals I have for this diet.
See you there!
